According to Attorney General Schneiderman, a licensed nurse at a nursing home in Oswego, New York intentionally broke an elderly resident’s rib.
The charges stem from a November 8, 2016 incident at the Pontiac Care and Rehabilitation Center in Oswego, New York. According to the Attorney General, Darryl Boscoe, a licensed practical nurse, pushed an 89-year-old man down a hallway, where the man then fell and suffered a nondisplaced fracture to his left rib.
Boscoe is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Vulnerable Elderly Person or an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person in the Second Degree. If found guilty, he could face up to seven years in prison. At the arraignment hearing, Boscoe entered a not guilty plea and the Court granted an Order of Protection – forcing Boscoe and the elderly victim to stay away from each other.
Boscoe is a resident of Oswego, and has worked at the Pontiac Care and Rehabilitation Center for two years.
Attorney General Schneiderman said, “Nurses are entrusted with care of our utmost vulnerable citizens, and they must treat them with the care and respect they deserve. Today’s arrest sends the message that medical professionals who disregard their training and jeopardize the safety of their patients will be held accountable.”
