A one-car motor vehicle accident in Pearl River, NY resulted in a severed leg and other life-threatening injuries yesterday. The injured party, an unidentified 15-year-old boy, was riding in the passenger seat of a 2002 Honda Accord when the car reportedly made contact with a guardrail, went off the road, rolled down a thirty-five foot embankment before coming to rest in a streambed between the Hilton Pearl River and Blue Hill Road.
The identities of the driver, a 17 year-old, and the injured 15 year-old, have not been released. According to reports from EMS personnel, the boy suffered internal bleeding and traumatic chest injuries and had lost a significant amount of blood. He was in shock when emergency teams arrived. He was transported to Nyack Hospital by the South Orangetown Ambulance Corps and Rockland Paramedics.
The car accident occurred at approximately 3:30 pm.
